When you adopt a pet from your local shelter, or rescue group, you save the life of two animals, the pet you take home, and the one that takes his or her place in the facility!
Groups like Lost Paws Rescue save dogs and cats everyday.
They make sure they have been seen by a vet, nurse them back to health if needed, place them with foster parents to be sure they are adoptable, then spend time trying to find them a forever home, where they can be loved and cared for.
Some of these pets may have been abused, neglected, or the previous owners simply couldn't give them the care and love they need, and they are forced to give them up.
Rescue groups screen the pets and the owners to assure that there is little problems in the future, and that both will be happy with their new family.
Take a little time and visit a few shelters and talk to some rescue groups before you choose a pet, chances are you can find the furry friend of your dreams!
Even if you are looking for a particular breed, many rescue groups are breed-specific!
Simply call your local animal shelter, or search for "pet rescue" in your city.
If you are having trouble finding one near you, contact us and we'd be glad to help.
Tip: Dogs respond to energy more than commands. Always be assertive and calm when interacting!
